Absinthe Spirit

I watch as you snatch the glow from my

palms

Running quickly, calling for me to follow.

You look over your shoulder, knowing I

will.

I have no choice.

Your voice is like a siren

Echoing against my eardrums.

You smile as I bleed

Though I still follow.

Your face is long and ceaseless.

Eyes gouged out and gums rotted.

I cannot feel your heart

So I am convinced it does not exist.

And yet still I follow you

Into the void again.

It is my insatiable desire

To only live in darkness.

This is not the first time you have

Taken me.

You’ve taken others too.

Will you ever stop?

My father

Is your close friend and you are his keeper.

Perhaps he got lost

In your hollow soul just as I.

I watch my best friend do things to forget

The bounty you hold over his head.

He claws his way up from the abyss of

insanity

Though your presence always lingers behind

his eyes.

You push

The vial of death between our lips.

But you will never let us drink.

We will never be free.

You crawl your way inside

Forcing yourself between our bones.

Wrapped in blue veins

You find a home in the vacant ribcage.

Now cocooned, you will never leave.

Buried with all of our hopes and dreams.

You pick at the flesh and toss it away.

Our bodies are useless anyway.
