Dairian Bowles

Dairian H. Bowles is a nonbinary writer from a small village in Northern Mississippi. Dairian attended Chapman University, securing a BFA in Screenwriting and a BA in Political Science. Through screenwriting and creative writing, Dairian explores the macabre corners of the human psyche with a keen interest in the absurd, the abrasive, and the disorienting. They are obsessed with the sentimentality of Toni Morrison, the thematic clarity of Octavia Butler, the raunchiness of John Waters, the frankness of Yorgos Lanthimos, and the intoxicating visuals of Wong Kar Wai. Dairian seeks to harness these inspirations, their Southern heritage, and their anger to create stories that address themes of Blackness, natal alienation, gender, power, and sex in ways that challenge, disturb, and ignite others.
